We have been retained by a growing energy/utilities organisation to search for a new Buyer - Civils/Construction.

The Buyer role involves delivering short-term sourcing events and full tenders within a specified category. The role ensures the delivery of tenders, commercial interventions, and contract renewals. The role holder will work with colleagues to understand specifications and evaluation criteria.

The role requires creating milestone plans for work delivery and ensuring compliance with governance standards.

Principal responsibilities of the role

• Implement the Category Strategy with the Category Manager through tenders, negotiations, renewals, and commercial interventions.
• Deliver tender activities to meet business needs, ensuring compliance with governance.
• Execute procurement strategies for products and services, influencing specifications and considering commercial, operational, and innovative aspects.
• Serve as a reference point within the business for procurement processes and best practices.
• Negotiate with suppliers for best value on pricing, performance, and contracts.
• Drive supplier development and innovation.
• Support broader commercial activities and other categories as needed.

Who we are looking for

• Professional accreditation through CIPS or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in delivering tenders within complex commercial functions.
• Understanding of procurement legislation.
