About the role

Buyer (Category Buyer) - Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)

Location: Peterborough

@one Alliance a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water's capital investment programme.

As we enter AMP8, our most ambitious Asset Management Period, we are preparing to undertake our largest project yet. This is a unique opportunity to drive industry change, set global standards, and foster career growth.

As a Buyer, you'll be at the heart of our supply chain operations-ensuring the right goods and services are procured at the right time, for the right price, and to the highest standards. Working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers, your work will directly impact the success of our delivery and innovation goals.

What you'll be doing

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage material codes and catalogue data to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Generate purchase orders and contract numbers in line with procurement strategy
  • Coordinate closely with stakeholders to meet strict service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Track and resolve aged debt to ensure timely supplier payments
  • Partner with Expeditors to manage delivery timelines and supplier performance
  • Continuously improve procurement processes through innovation and data insight
  • Build collaborative relationships across the business and supply chain
