Overview

Job Title: Buyer
Department: Procurement
Reports to: Procurement Lead / Head of Department
Location: Antrim

Role Overview

Support UK Land and Global Marine projects by managing procurement activities that deliver value, ensure timely sourcing of goods and services, and maintain compliance with project specifications, budgets, and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement for specific material and service categories.
  • Analyse stock and requisition reports to optimise purchase orders.
  • Identify high-use items and implement effective category strategies.
  • Source goods/services from approved suppliers in line with specifications.
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to secure best value.
  • Track consumption, supplier performance, and cost metrics through reports and KPIs.
  • Work closely with project teams to forecast demand and mitigate supply risks.
  • Contribute to improving procurement practices in line with ISO and QMS standards.
  • Maintain accurate procurement data within IT systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
Essential Criteria
  • Proven experience in a similar purchasing/procurement role
  • Proficient in procurement systems and MS Office
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with strong organisational abilities
  • Able to manage priorities independently and work collaboratively
Preferred Criteria
  • Degree in Business, Construction, Engineering, or related field
  • MCIPS qualified or currently studying towards it
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or a similar project-based environment
