Strategic Buyer – Aluminium / Metals | Global Supply Chain

Location: Filton, Bristol (Hybrid)

Our client is seeking a Strategic Buyer with solid experience in supply chain, procurement, or buying, ideally within the metals or manufacturing industry. This role is focused on managing international suppliers and delivering material strategies, especially around aluminium and extrusions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage strategic sourcing and supplier relationships for aluminium and metal commodities.
  • Lead the end-to-end demand management and procurement process (ConBid).
  • Coordinate supplier selection, tendering, contract negotiations, and reviews.
  • Contribute to cost-saving programs and support supplier performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure accurate contract change management and data alignment in systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier capability, contracts, and market conditions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders.
  • Experience in buying, supply chain, or procurement, ideally in metals or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of material specs and technical requirements, especially aluminium.
  • Comfortable working in a complex, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Skilled in contract management, negotiation, and supplier engagement.
  • Exposure to international supply base and cross-cultural working practices.
