Buyer – Birmingham – Full Time

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Buyer to join our Procurement team, supporting the development and execution of category strategies across Business and Soft Services. You'll play a key role in sourcing, supplier management, and delivering value through cost-effective, high-quality supply chain solutions.

This is a fantastic opportunity to influence strategic procurement decisions, drive innovation, and build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

You will lead and support strategic procurement initiatives across key spend areas as well as manage complex, high-value sourcing activities and negotiations through building strong relationships with internal stakeholders. You will also

  • Identify and onboard competitive suppliers to drive value and innovation.
  • Deliver cost reduction opportunities aligned with business goals.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Develop and execute category strategies that meet evolving business needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across departments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand and challenge business requirements.
  • Support delivery of annual targets across cost, quality, reliability, and service.
  • Implement and maintain supplier management programs for strategic and preferred suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Review and enhance current processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
What are we looking for?

You will have a good level of procurement experience and buying experience within the FM industry. You will hold excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills as well as the ability to work creatively and analytically.

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and strategy implementation.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities.
  • CIPS qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
