About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join our team in the Birchwood Warrington office on a fixed term contract.Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for us. You will be responsible for effectively and professionally conducting procurement transactions associated with purchasing materials/equipment and/or subcontracting of services. You will also have knowledge and understanding of procurement concepts, principles and practices, and the techniques of ensuring task completion. You will also have experience and understanding of procurement and its integration with other project functions, accomplishes value-added expectations, and perform assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Purchasing assignments typically will consist of purchases of materials and equipment

Utilize established policies, procedures, systems, and tools

Administer Purchase Orders (POs)/Procurement Agreements and change orders (modifications)

Review PO-/subcontracts-related invoices and ensures that invoices are approved in accordance with terms and conditions agreed within the purchase order/subcontract

Evaluate facts surrounding purchase order-/subcontract-related problem areas and applies remedies to resolve it

Maintain purchasing/subcontracting documentation in a repository

Identify and advise management of purchase order-/subcontract-related risks

Prepare bidder lists, qualifies bidders, prepares requests for quotation, and conducts bid evaluations

Recommend source selections, leads purchase order/agreement negotiations

Work under moderate to minimal supervision. No direct reports. Supervises the work of procurement support personnel who assist with the purchasing activities

Coordinate with project or departmental personnel in performance of the purchasing activities

Here’s What You’ll Need

Must have good IT skills - proficient in use of packages such as word and excel and previous experience of P2P systems eg Costpoint, SAP, Oracle

Excellent communication skills - written and verbal

Previous experience within a procurement environment or experienced administrator

Previous experience of working with invoices eg queries, credits etc

Organised and methodical in their approach to work

Can work independently and manage their own workload (with support and guidance where needed)

Pragmatic with a can do attitude!
