The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious procurement professional to step into a Buyer role within the construction and civil engineering sector. You’ll be responsible for securing best value from suppliers, managing procurement of materials and services, and supporting project delivery teams across live projects.

Your duties and responsibilities
  • Obtain best value from suppliers of materials, services, and consumables to support project teams.
  • Plan, place, and track orders with suppliers, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
  • Report on procurement progress in line with project procurement plans.
  • Work with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) representatives to ensure supplier compliance with required standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining procurement strategies and business plans.
  • Develop and manage the supplier base to meet current and future business needs.
  • Carry out regular site visits to stay informed on project progress.
  • Maintain awareness of different contract types (NEC3/NEC4) and industry standards such as CIPS.
  • Ensure compliance with project site safety requirements during visits.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • 1–3 years’ experience in the construction or civil engineering industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
  • Strong supplier negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Site-based role, 5 days per week.
