Job description

Buyer

Full Time & Permanent

Office Based

Swindon

Up to 45,000 + Benefits

Do you have previous procurement experience of working with construction (or similar)?

Interested in a role where your buying expertise keeps projects moving?

This is a great opportunity to join a leading company that delivers high-quality projects across residential developments.

As a Buyer, you'll play an important role in making sure their sites have the materials, aggregates, plant and equipment they need. You'll work closely within a small team, sharing responsibilities and providing additional support and cover across the procurement function. Your particular focus will be on bulk materials and aggregates, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who knows the construction supply chain and enjoys the commercial side of procurement.

What you'll be doing

Your day-to-day role will be varied and commercially focused, including:

  • Source and purchase aggregates and materials for multiple live sites.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate competitive prices.
  • Arrange and coordinate deliveries directly with site teams.
  • Monitor material usage and upcoming requirements to ensure sites are never caught short.
  • Support the wider procurement team and provide cover when required.
  • Manage the hire and off hire of plant, tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate plant movements between sites and suppliers.
  • Monitor plant utilisation to help minimise downtime and unnecessary hire costs.
  • Negotiate pricing, availability and delivery schedules.
  • Support the estimating team with supplier pricing during tender stages.

This isn't simply a purchasing role! You'll become a key link between suppliers, procurement and the company's live construction sites, with the opportunity to influence costs, availability and the smooth delivery of projects.

You'll also have the support of an existing team, working as part of a collaborative procurement function rather than operating in isolation.

If you're someone who enjoys negotiating, solving problems, building supplier relationships and keeping construction projects moving, we'd like to hear from you!
