An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a family run automotive engineering company in Stoke on Trent as a Buyer to support the team with the purchasing of materials and the dispatch of automotive test interface equipment worldwide.

The successful candidate will contribute positively towards saving the business money, minimising waste and increasing profits through sourcing suppliers, negotiating and managing suppliers through the whole procurement process.

As the Buyer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing and purchasing goods and materials through preferred suppliers.
  • Checking stock availability, negotiating prices to maximise profits and agreeing lead times.
  • Providing procurement support for multiple projects, adhering to agreed timescales in line with customer requirements.
  • Accurately expediting orders and managing stock levels in the stores, providing reports when required.
  • Managing goods coming in, chasing outstanding or late materials with suppliers.
  • Managing the dispatch of goods worldwide and dealing with the relevant external freight forwarding company (Fedex, DHL).
  • Liaising with external accountants for purchase ledger associated tasks.

The Buyer will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Effective communicator with good negotiation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in purchasing or buying role would be a distinct advantage, as would experience of Kanban systems in manufacturing for purchasing.

You will be working between 8.00am 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.00am 1.00pm on Friday, with half an hour for lunch.

Appointment will be subject to right to work checks and satisfactory references.
