Job description

Nicholsons Sealing Technologies Limited designs and manufactures precision components used in Aerospace, Automotive and other specialist sectors globally. We are seeking a motivated and talented Buyer to join our UK Purchasing team. The company has seen strong growth and development and the Buyer role will be key to continuing this. The successful candidate be responsible for sourcing product and services, and managing suppliers. Reporting to the Operations Director, the Buyer will support the delivery of the Purchasing strategy, and have the opportunity to be involved with projects to drive key Purchasing and business objectives across the UK site.

The key responsibilities of the Buyer role will be :
  • Source suppliers and services, including tendering, negotiation and onboarding
  • Place purchase orders, track progress, invoice match, review and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage subcontract processing and consumable suppliers to meet operational demands
  • Monitor supplier and contractor performance, performing corrective actions as required
  • Identify cost saving opportunities and implement improvements
  • Provide coverage for Purchasing colleagues as required.
To be considered for the role you should :
  • Have solid experience in a similar purchasing role / environment
  • Be a real team player, able to balance stakeholder needs and committed to best practice
  • Be able to build positive, effective relationships with all colleagues and suppliers
  • Be self-motivated and proactive, meticulous and detail oriented

Understanding of manufacturing processes would be an advantage

In this role you will benefit from a private pension scheme, non-contractual Business Performance Related Bonus, 24 days’ annual leave (rising with service) plus Bank Holidays, a working week of 38 hours over 5 days with an early Friday finish, offering excellent work / life balance.
