Hours: Mon to Fri - 09:00 - 17:00

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer for our client who specializes in precision machined components for high-profile industries including Aerospace, Petrochemical, and Power Generation.

Role Overview

The company's Buyer will be responsible for purchasing and managing stock, materials, and services to meet operational needs, considering price, quality, and delivery, ensuring continuity of supply.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and managing all procurement activities
  2. Coordinating and monitoring purchasing operations
  3. Maintaining relationships with domestic and international suppliers
  4. Implementing cost reduction strategies
  5. Managing supply chain logistics and tracking purchase orders for timely delivery
  6. Expediting deliveries
  7. Rationalizing supplier database and relationships
  8. Managing the annual purchasing budget and aiming to meet or exceed targets
  9. Maintaining and updating supplier data
  10. Identifying organizational purchasing needs
  11. Analyzing trends, researching, and selecting quality products and materials
  12. Building and negotiating with suppliers for optimal prices, quantities, and delivery times
  13. Processing requisitions and updating management on order statuses
  14. Collaborating with sales, management, and stockroom to maintain stock levels
  15. Monitoring stock quality and addressing discrepancies

Candidate Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a buying role
  • Preferred CIPS qualification
  • Manufacturing or engineering background (highly desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of Progress Plus MRP (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Works Orders and BOMs (advantageous)
  • Strong cost reduction and negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
