Job description

We are recruiting for a Buyer to join a friendly, fast-paced, and well-established company based on the outskirts of St Albans.

Our client provides specialist construction, engineering, and facilities management solutions to organisations of all sizes and across various sectors. As a standalone Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the most appropriate goods and services are selected based on price, quality, and delivery times, while ensuring profitability at all times.

Note: Due to the location, you need to be a driver.

This role is 100% office-based.

Key responsibilities:

1. Seek quotes on prices and availability of materials from various suppliers
2. Purchase goods, supplies, and other relevant services
3. Identify potential suppliers and new products
4. Liaise between suppliers and internal departments
5. Monitor and report delivery schedules to and from site
6. Keep detailed records and maintain an organized work schedule
7. Ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives
8. Assess the reliability and delivery performance of suppliers
9. Establish and monitor an approved supplier list
10. Ensure all materials comply with Health and Safety guidelines
11. Arrange meetings with suppliers
12. Perform any other duties relevant to the role

• At least a Level 5 CIPS qualification
• Excellent understanding of numeric data

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of the building services and FM industry is a bonus
• Due to the location, a driving license and own car are essential
