Introduction
The Buyer has the primary responsibility of co-ordinating and expediting the flow of materials to support production schedules. Other responsibilities include managing inventory levels, supporting material/product level revisions, interacting/co-ordinating with suppliers on a variety of topics and supporting other business functions as required.This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines with attention to detail and the ability to cope with multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Validate authenticity of MRP and order book and manage both, keeping data topical.Keep critical shortage sheet topical and accurate.Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required to support the forecast and production schedule.Negotiate MOQ's and EOQ's to obtain best price.Manage obsolescence with the suppliers and highlight any liabilities.Expedite or defer orders as required in line with schedule/inventory changes.Raise purchase orders to support manual requisitions as required.Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery of all materials.Facilitation of non-confirming product back to suppliers and expediting of relevant return parts and paperwork.Set up and maintain master system procurement parameters (MOQ, lead time, safety stock).Facilitate problem resolutions with stakeholders as required (to include but not limited to):-• Booking in queries• BOM queries (including cross referencing)• Demand queries• Invoice queriesCarry out supplier visits as and when required.Manage supplier KPl's and agree action plans to drive improvements
Flow down customer T&C's and quality requirements to suppliers as required.Compliance to company and industry policies and procedures.Collaborative approach with all internal stakeholders and provide high level of customer service, including recommending solutions and alternative supply options.
Core and Desireable Skills and Experience
Results orientated, excellent analytical, process and problem-solving skills.Team player with initiative and a positive attitude.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact, communicate and influence with all levels of the organisation.Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal.Strong ability to effectively manage in a matrix organisational structure working with multiple internal stakeholders.Excellent attention to detail.Open, transparent, and able to respond positively to issues and actively seek solutions as necessary.Competent in Excel and PowerPoint.Effective time management/ prioritisation skills.Strong commercial understanding.Educated to degree level.Experience in a Manufacturing environment
Experience with the principles of Transportation, Supply Chain and Procurement.Experience, usage, and manipulation of MRP / ERP Manufacturing systems.Experience of demand planning.Experience in designing and executing sourcing strategies that consistently deliver measurable bottom line cost saving.Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organising/time management and problem-solving skills.
