Job summary

Job Role:- Buyer
Contract:- Permanent
Location:- St Helens (WA9 4HU) - Office Based Role only
Salary:- £37,500 - £42,000 (DOE)
Hours:- Mon to Fri - 09:00 - 17:00

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer for our client who specialise in precision machined components for high profile industries which include the Aerospace, Petrol Chemical & Power Generation.

Role Overview
The company Buyer will be responsible for the purchasing and management of stock, materials and
services to ensure that the companies operational needs are met, taking into account price,
quality and delivery whilst ensuring continuity of supply.

As the Buyer your responsibilities will include ;

- Planning and managing all company procurements
- Coordinating and monitoring all purchasing activity
- Maintaining commercial relations with domestic and international suppliers
- Cost reduction
- Supply chain management - Arranging transport of goods and tracking Purchase Orders to ensure timely delivery
- Expediting
- Rationalising supplier data base and suppliers
- Managing annual purchasing budget and meet and exceed purchasing budgets
- Maintaining and managing supplier data base
- Identifying the organisations purchasing needs
- Analyse trends, research, selecting and purchasing quality products and materials
- Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best price, quantities and delivery timescales.
- Processing requisitions and updating management on the status of orders
- Coordinating with sales team, management, and stockroom to maintain stock levels.
- Monitoring the stock quality and escalating any discrepancies

The successful Buyer will hold the following skills & experience :-

- Must have previous experience within a Buying role.
- Preferred CIPS qualified
- Manufacturing/engineering background (highly preferable but not essential)
- Knowledge of Progress Plus MRP (preferable but not essential)
- Familiar with Works Orders & BOMs would be advantageous.
- Competent in cost reduction management
- Analytical skills
- Strong negotiation skills
