Job summary

Jackson Hogg Ltd is seeking a Tier 1 Buyer for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Newton Aycliffe. The role focuses on direct procurement of production components and RFQ management to secure competitive pricing and timely delivery.

You will maintain robust supplier relationships, monitor PPV and contribute to continuous improvement within a busy manufacturing supply chain. On-site role with an immediate start available.

Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be exclusively partnered with a manufacturing organisation in Newton Aycliffe on the appointment of a Buyer to join their team on a full-time basis, initially for 12 month contract.


Salary on offer is £30-32k per annum depending on experience.


This role will ensure supply chain activities support operational needs, maintain optimal stock levels and contribute to overall business efficiency through effective supplier management and purchasing practices. This role plays a key part in building strong supplier relationships, driving continuous improvement initiatives and delivering commercial value to the organisation.


Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 with an early Friday finish.

This is an on-site based role.


The Role:


  • Direct procurement of components required for production

  • Indirect procurement of goods and services as required by the business

  • Managing RFQ process, negotiating optimum price, quantities and lead times

  • Vendor selection and consolidation of current vendors

  • Supplier relationship management

  • Ensure the accuracy of data within the Priority ERP system

  • Ensure vendor records, approvals and certifications are maintained and up to date.

  • Expedite goods and services providing stakeholder feedback

  • Prepare commercial invoices and shipping documentation for international shipments

  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries in a timely manner

  • Monitor and report on Purchase Price Variance (PPV).

  • Prepare reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information and trends


The Person/Specification:


  • Experience managing high-volume purchasing activities

  • Demonstrable experience working in a procurement or purchasing role

  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships

  • Strong team player with the ability to influence and support others

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general IT applications

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and targets

  • Strong negotiation skills, including experience managing RFQs and securing competitive pricing, lead times and quantities.

  • Working knowledge of, and hands‑on experience with ERP systems

  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment

  • Awareness and understanding of global supply chain management and experience of managing relationships with global vendors
