Job description

Job Title: Buyer

Salary: Competitive

Location: Kettering

Contract: Permanent

Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 (37.5 hours per week)

As a sourcing specialist, you will work closely with Sales and Supply Chain, utilizing their knowledge and experience to ensure that the product range supports the company's overall strategy and goals. By gathering and prioritizing product and customer/sales requirements, you will source and price suitable products, plan and communicate changes in product lines, and identify market gaps to be filled. You will also research customer needs with Sales and negotiate with suppliers to purchase products, enabling the company to offer a complete assortment for its customer base.

Responsibilities Include
  1. Responding to field sales requests by researching and quoting for products outside of the current offering. Setting up items upon receipt of a customer PO to ensure smooth transactions (Sales order, Purchase order).
  2. Liaising with product management to respond to sales queries.
  3. Negotiating with local suppliers to agree on prices and quantities, demonstrating commercial awareness.
  4. Responding to ad-hoc price changes from local suppliers.
  5. Maintaining pricing in line with sales margin requirements.
  6. Discontinuing and superseding products as needed.
  7. Cleaning up or discontinuing unsold products.
  8. Reporting on discontinued stock holdings.
  9. Onboarding new suppliers by gathering correct information and completing internal forms.
About You
  • Ability to extract data from ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for negotiations and clear expectation setting.
  • Relationship building and networking skills.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles for calculating margins, gross profit, and discounts.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, presentation software, and stock management systems.
