Job summary

OCS Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a respected construction business to recruit an experienced Buyer. You will procure materials, plant, equipment and subcontract packages, analysing quotations and negotiating terms to align with programme needs.

This role requires building robust supplier relationships, managing purchase orders, and coordinating with commercial, estimating and operational teams to drive value across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Buyer within construction.
• Experience procuring construction materials, plant and/or subcontract packages.
• Knowledge of groundworks, civils, RC frame or general construction procurement.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
• Excellent supplier and subcontractor relationship management.
• Good understanding of construction programmes and procurement lead times.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple packages and deadlines.
• Proactive approach with strong attention to detail.

OCS are currently working with an established construction business specialising in groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, basements, civil engineering and external works.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to strengthen their commercial and procurement function with an experienced Buyer.

The Role

Working closely with the commercial, estimating and operational teams, you will play an important role in ensuring projects are procured efficiently, competitively and in line with programme requirements.

• Managing the procurement of materials, plant, equipment and subcontract packages
• Obtaining and analysing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Negotiating prices, terms and delivery schedules
• Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships
• Issuing purchase orders and managing procurement documentation
• Monitoring supplier performance, lead times and deliveries
