Materials Buyer - Fixed Term Contract

We are seeking a procurement professional with attention to detail and a passion for smooth operations. Join our established team on a one-year fixed-term contract as a Materials Buyer, playing a key role in ensuring the timely availability of essential components—from machined parts to electronic equipment and raw materials.

You will be based in one of the following East Kent towns: Canterbury, Deal, Margate, Sandwich, Ramsgate, Dover, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Faversham, Sittingbourne, Folkestone.

The Buyer’s Responsibilities

• Procure critical materials, managing batch sizes, lead times, and vendor performance.
• Utilize SAP to optimize inventory levels and streamline material planning.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Planning, Operations, Customer Service) to minimize backlogs and ensure part availability.
• Support forecasting to align supply with business demand.
• Track and expedite purchase orders; produce reports on vendor performance, cost variances, and more.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in purchasing or materials management within manufacturing.
• Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
