Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a proactive Buyer for an onsite role in Eastleigh. You will manage end-to-end procurement for engineering materials, driving supplier performance and resolving supply issues to meet production and project requirements.

The role requires strong supplier relationships, experience with POs, delivery schedules, expediting, and cost reduction initiatives within a manufacturing/engineering environment. SAP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing/procurement within manufacturing/engineering.
• Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing POs, supplier performance, delivery schedules and expediting.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, and Quality.
• Exposure to supplier quality, NCRs and corrective actions.
• Understanding of drawings, BOMs and engineering specs.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement process for engineering materials and components.
• Ensure materials are delivered in line with project, manufacturing and customer requirements.
• Proactively manage supplier performance, delivery schedules and lead times.
• Expedite critical orders and resolve supply chain bottlenecks.
• Support supplier development activities and performance improvement plans.
• Investigate and resolve supplier non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Monitor procurement KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiation and sourcing.
• Work with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Production to support operations.
• Maintain accurate procurement and supplier data within ERP systems.

A growing engineering and manufacturing business are looking for a proactive Buyer who enjoys working closely with suppliers, engineering teams, and manufacturing operations.

• Role: Buyer
• Duration: 6-12 month contract
• Pay: 25 - 30 p/hr (Inside IR35)
• Location: Eastleigh
• Working Pattern: Fully onsite

This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for managing purchase orders, driving supplier performance, resolving supply issues, supporting quality improvements, and ensuring materials are delivered in line with production and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment and ideally an understanding of machined components, fabrications, castings, mechanical assemblies, or other engineered products.

Key Requirements:

• Previous purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery schedules, and expediting activities.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, and Quality.
• SAP experience.
• Experience sourcing machined components, fabrications, castings, mechanical assemblies, or engineered products.
• Exposure to supplier quality, NCRs, and corrective action processes.
• Understanding of technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering specifications.
