Job summary

Matchtech, a growing engineering and manufacturing business, seeks a proactive Buyer in Eastleigh for a hands-on, fully onsite role. You will manage end-to-end procurement for engineering materials and components, drive supplier performance, and resolve supply issues to support production and project delivery.

You will work closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Production teams, maintain ERP data, and pursue cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production and Quality.
• Experience managing purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery schedules, and expediting activities.
• Understanding of technical drawings, BOMs and engineering specifications.
• Experience delivering supplier cost reductions and performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate procurement and supplier data within ERP systems.

A growing engineering and manufacturing business are looking for a proactive Buyer who enjoys working closely with suppliers, engineering teams, and manufacturing operations.

Role: Buyer

Duration: 6-12 month contract

Pay: £25 - 30 p/hr (Inside IR35)

Location: Eastleigh

Working Pattern: Fully onsite

This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for managing purchase orders, driving supplier performance, resolving supply issues, supporting quality improvements, and ensuring materials are delivered in line with production and project requirements.

The successful candidate will have experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment and ideally an understanding of machined components, fabrications, castings, mechanical assemblies, or other engineered products.

Key Requirements

• Previous purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery schedules, and expediting activities.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, and Quality.
• SAP experience.
• Experience sourcing machined components, fabrications, castings, mechanical assemblies, or engineered products.
• Exposure to supplier quality, NCRs, and corrective action processes.
• Understanding of technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering specifications.
• Experience delivering supplier cost reductions and performance improvements.

You’ll play a key role in identifying cost‑saving opportunities, supporting supplier development activities, and helping to continuously improve supply chain performance.
