The Role

As a Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role operates within the Procurement & Supply Chain function, supporting a critical project within the Mission Systems business unit within Babcock.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide support to the Babcock Supply Chain in the provision of Goods and/or Services.

This role will help build excellent relationships with suppliers for maximum performance. This involves working within a team of procurement professionals comprising of procurement managers, senior buyers and buyers, delivering on time and to the customer’s requirements.

  • Prepare, issue and review supplier Request for Quotation’s, recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Converting purchase requisitions to purchase orders and issuing to suppliers, negotiating appropriate Terms and Conditions for the protection of the organisation.
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides flexible hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Buyer

  • Procurement experience, ideally in an operational procurement environment
  • Experience with ERP Systems including IFS and SAP is highly desirable.
  • Experience in sourcing new materials and services.

Qualifications for the Buyer

  • A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level 4 or above is desirable.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. The successful candidate will be allowed to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but would need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
