Description

Gordon Murray Automotive is a UK-based global luxury brand dedicated to creating and manufacturing the world's greatest driving cars. These ultra-exclusive cars are engineered and designed without compromise to provide unrivalled driving experiences and driver-centric connection.

This role reports to the Purchasing Commodity Manager for Chassis at Gordon Murray Automotive and holds end-to-end responsibility for sourcing, supplier management, and cost control across multiple projects. The focus is on delivering high-quality, cost-effective components while developing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement.

Key duties include leading sourcing and nomination processes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring supplier performance in cost, quality, and delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive or manufacturing, strong negotiation and procurement skills, and a proactive, organised approach with a passion for delivering results and progressing within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Purchasing Commodity Manager for Chassis in Gordon Murray Automotive
  • Project life-cycle responsibility delivering high quality and value for money components.
  • Accountability for cost and budget management for direct spend within Chassis function group and cross commodities if required
  • Supplier performance and relationship management
  • Developing commodity strategy
  • Sourcing and nomination process lead across various projects.
  • Negotiating, executing and monitoring contractual agreements with suppliers.
  • Delivering cost down through commercial and VA/VE activities.
  • Working cross functionally with main stakeholders to deliver company objectives.
  • Managing supplier performance on cost, quality and on time delivery.
  • Identification and development of continuous improvement opportunities
  • Place and process purchase orders on behalf of Gordon Murray Group
  • Assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven experience in negotiating.
  • Previous experience in automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Good understanding of procurement and supply chain procedures.
  • Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes.
  • Works well under pressure and has a passion for delivering objectives.
  • Computer literate - Microsoft office suite and previous experience with an ERP system would be beneficial.
  • Resourceful attitude with flexible and proactive approach.
  • Organised, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directing, passion for delivering objectives, comfortable challenging existing processes.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients
  • Self- motivation and enthusiasm to work autonomously and in a team
  • Ambition to progress within the organisation
  • Promote best practice within procurement area
