Job summary

YTL UK is seeking a Buyer to collaborate with project teams and suppliers to ensure goods and services are available for AMP8 delivery. You will prioritise requirements, manage delivery information and spot delays early.

You will source, place orders, and develop supplier partnerships while monitoring performance and ensuring on-time availability across sites. A proactive, organised communicator is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Buyer or similar in civil/general construction or mechanical/electrical.
• Must have a driving license for travel between offices, sites and suppliers.
• Work towards CIPS membership or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Source goods and services to achieve best commercial, quality and delivery outcomes.
• Place orders correctly and call off from established framework agreements.
• Collaborate with partners on sustainable procurement and sourcing.
• Act as conduit between suppliers and internal customers to build strong partnerships.
• Monitor supplier performance and develop reporting opportunities.
• Maintain product availability by liaison with purchasing colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers.
• Establish and maintain supplier agreements and relationships.
• Introduce ideas to improve contributions to the organisation's goals.

Job description

As a Buyer for YTL Construction UK, you will collaborate with colleagues & internal stakeholders to understand requirements and work with suppliers to ensure that goods and services are available to sites for the successful delivery of AMP8.

What you'll do

You'll be coordinating with project teams, sites and logistics colleagues to prioritise critical requirements, maintain accurate delivery information and support materials arriving safely, in full and on time. Spotting potential delays or supply risks at the earliest opportunity.

Day-to-day, the role will involve:

• sourcing goods and services ensuring the best possible commercial, quality and delivery outcome is obtained for daily purchasing demands
• ensuring orders are placed correctly; calling off from framework agreements where established
• working with key partners focusing on sustainable procurement & sourcing
• acting as a conduit between suppliers and internal customers to develop strong supplier partnerships
• monitoring supplier performance for key spend areas and developing reporting opportunities
• liaising with purchasing colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure product availability
• establishing and maintaining supplier agreements & relationships
• implementing new ideas and methods and seeking ways to both improve contribution to the organisation's goals and enhance the reputation of the company.

What you'll need

You'll have proven experience working as a Buyer or in a similar role in either civil & general construction or mechanical & electrical.

Travel between offices, sites & suppliers is a key part of the role; therefore, a driving license is essential.

We're looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic individual with passion and determination to succeed, with an aspiration to progress and develop their skills, experience and learning.

You will have strong analytical skills and superb attention to detail and will enjoy interacting with business stakeholders and suppliers to gain the best outcomes.

In addition, you'll ideally:

• have an understanding of eSourcing systems (eg, Jaggaer, COINS, etc.)
• have knowledge of procurement policies and procedures
• be working towards becoming a member of CIPS or gaining an equivalent qualification
• have negotiation and influencing skills
• have the ability to clearly communicate business requirements to suppliers and contractors
• be highly organised and articulate
• have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
