The role

As a Buyer, you will assist in developing, sourcing, and delivering an on-trend and commercially focused range, while driving profit and enhancing the Peacocks brand position. You'll be part of our close-knit Head Office team, ensuring our ranges are commercially developed and delivered in line with our brand vision and strategy.

Responsibilities/Objectives:

• Plan and build a commercially balanced range, achieving margin targets as set by the company;
• Drive regular departmental product reviews, ensuring coordination across departments in terms of trends, looks, and colour palettes;
• Operate an effective and timely product sign-off process, in line with the critical path and planning cycle;
• Take ownership of the critical path, ensuring deadlines are met, raising issues, and communicating and implementing action plans;
• Review and analyze sales data, identify top-performing products/lines, and make data-driven decisions for future lines and recommendations for improvement;
• Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal products, prices, and contract terms, utilizing supplier expertise to improve range and knowledge;
• Lead meetings at Director/Head of level, ensuring effective communication of key information and completion of actions within set timescales;
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure successful launch of new product lines, seasonal collections, and initiatives;
• Work with the merchandising team to monitor and control trade, ensuring stock turn, margin targets, and profit levels are achieved.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in a Fashion Retail Buying role with a commercial mindset;
• Deep understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and the buying process, with a strong eye for print and pattern;
• A passion for trends and the ability to drive newness in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong supplier relationships;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining effective internal and external relationships;
• A proven track record of developing and trading highly commercial fashion ranges that exceed sales and profit targets.
