Job summary

Booker Group is seeking an experienced butcher to run the butchery department in Ipswich. You will engage with customers, offer product recommendations and help grow sales while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

You will work with the Store Manager to develop a business plan for the department, manage stock and staff, and ensure clean, compliant operations across displays and back-room processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in butchered meat handling and retail roles.
• Strong knowledge of meat proteins and cuts.
• Stock control, display merchandising and food safety compliance.
• Ability to lead a small team and work with store management.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and advice on meat products.
• Manage stock, ordering, rotas and meat displays.
• Cut meat to order and maintain tools and equipment.
• Co-operate with the Store Manager to grow sales and profitability.
• Coordinate deliveries or pickups and ensure waste control.
