Job summary

Booker is seeking an experienced butcher to run its butchery department like a small business. You will engage with customers to grow their business, understand local markets and deliver excellent service.

The role offers flexibility to operate with low financial risk while demonstrating strong product knowledge across all meat proteins. You will manage stock, lead a team, plan promotions, and coordinate deliveries, ensuring food safety and high standards across displays and customer

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards for stock, food safety, displays, staff morale and customer satisfaction.
• Work with Store Manager to develop a business plan to grow sales and profitability.
• Greet customers, advise, take orders and provide helpful service.
• Order and manage stock, including stocktaking.
• Lead and rota a small team, cut meat to order.
• Clean and maintain tools/equipment and coordinate deliveries or pickups.
• Control waste.

You will be responsible for

• Maintaining high standards in all areas including; stock, food safety procedures including recording information, fresh meat and pre-packed meat displays, staff morale and customer satisfaction
• You will work alongside the Store Manager to develop a business plan that will support the growth in sales and profitability of your department
• Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, accepting orders, and offering helpful advice with a smile
• Ordering and managing stock - including stocktaking
• Effectively developing and managing a small team including staff rota’s
• Cutting meat to order
• Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
• Coordinating deliveries or order pickups
• Controlling waste
