Job description

We have exciting opportunities for Butchers to join our team at Pilgrim’s Europe – Corsham site. Successful candidates will be required to work in our Butchery Department. Our ideal candidate will be keen to learn new skills, focused, and driven. We are looking to invest in people, providing role-specific training to progress enthusiastic candidates up through the business.

Working Hours – Monday to Friday – 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure work is carried out to the best of the Operative’s abilities to meet production deadlines.
  • Seek training to maintain skills and remain up to date with best practice.
  • Work as part of a team and take responsibility for own work and for individual quality standards of products produced.
  • Carry out all procedures in a safe manner in accordance with training.
  • Comply with Company policy and procedures on safe food handling and hygiene at all times to keep our food products safe and free from foreign bodies.
  • Lead by example and report any risks/concerns to the Technical Team immediately.
  • Maintain a positive, proactive, flexible approach to all aspects of the job.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned necessary to meet business needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a food production environment is desirable.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and a recognised qualification/certificate of competence in butchery/meat processing (e.g., NVQ).
  • Ability to demonstrate knife skills for the skilled roles, or willingness to learn in semi-skilled/trainee roles.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst working as part of a team, striving to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
