About The Role
Join our team as a Butcher and play an essential role in providing high-quality cuts of meat to our customers. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for ensuring the freshness, quality, and presentation of our meats while adhering to strict food safety standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent knife skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Salary
£30,000 per annum + tronc
Hours
Full Time, 40-hour contract (Weekend work included)
Responsibilities
Food
- Share knowledge of the farm and our practices when engaging with customers
- Champion the quality of fresh meat in store
- Maintain a beautifully merchandised display of cuts and pre-packaged products with appropriate POS in line with store planogram
Service
- Ensure every customer receives excellent service
- Provide swift, knowledgeable, and engaging butchery service in compliance with retail standards
Operations
- Maintain store standards for hygiene and display
- Complete opening/closing procedures and store due diligence
- Demonstrate knife skills and confidently portion poultry and deboned meat, including full carcass breakdown
- Control stock levels to minimize waste and loss through strict rotation, date checking, and quality checks
- Contribute to social and environmental initiatives, aligning with sustainability and B Corp commitments
Numbers
- Drive basket spend through product recommendations, upselling, and supporting promotions
- Achieve sales targets in collaboration with the team
- Support the Lead Butcher, General Manager, and Head Chef in daily operations
- Utilize products nearing end of life effectively
Skills and Requirements
- Expertise in meat cutting and preparation, including carcass breakdown and value-added products
- Strong customer service and sales skills
- Knowledge of meat quality, aging, and food safety standards
- Proficiency with knives and butchery equipment, maintaining safety and efficiency
