Job summary

Qualifications

• QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree are required.
• Secondary teaching experience at the 11-18 level is desirable, including practice-based experience.
• Knowledge of effective teaching and learning theory and practice is essential.
• Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutor.
• Know the National Curriculum KS3/KS4 requirements and experience in writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students.
• Able to work in a team and develop positive relationships with staff.
• Good ICT skills, including innovative use of interactive white boards.
• Create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
• Communicate positively with parents, carers and external agencies where necessary.
• Strong written and spoken communication; ability to manage own workload and time effectively.
• Motivate students and raise aspirations through various strategies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Business Studies lessons to KS3/KS4 students in a supportive learning environment.
• Plan lessons, develop resources and assess student work to support progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive staff team.
