Job summary

Head Resourcing is seeking a hands-on Business Systems Engineer to help scale and optimise internal systems across sales, operations, warehousing and fulfilment. The role is permanent and full-time, with a hybrid UK-based arrangement and regular time in Edinburgh.

You'll work on PHP/Laravel or TypeScript/Node.js, build APIs, automations and data pipelines, and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to deliver measurable business impact, using AWS, Docker, CI/CD and modern engineering

Qualifications

• Strong experience in PHP/Laravel or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Proven ownership of production software and critical systems.
• Experience building APIs, integrations and backend systems.
• Understanding of relational databases and data modelling.
• Experience with automated testing and modern deployment practices.
• Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and improve processes.

Salary: £60,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong experience in either PHP/Laravel or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Proven ownership of production software and business-critical systems.
• Experience building APIs, integrations and backend systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data modelling.
• Experience with automated testing and modern deployment practices.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and improve underlying business processes.
• Comfortable leveraging AI tools while maintaining engineering quality, security and accountability.
• Experience within logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, ERP, CRM or operational systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
