About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF MR K’s RECOVERY

Adult Social Care in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where our passionate, caring and committed professionals do brilliant work every day.

A globe-trotting tourist called Mr K had a stroke. Hospitalised and very vulnerable, we put a unique plan together for him. He wanted to travel to Germany, but he wasn’t well enough. We placed Mr K in a care home to recover. Initially he didn’t like it, but our social worker worked hard to encourage him to stay. And he enjoyed the experience so much, he stayed for a year. As he was recovering, Mr K’s social worker got him an iPad and a phone to help him manage his finances and arrange his next trip. This enabled him to book his tickets to Germany. ‘Auf wiedersehen’ and he was gone!

The Role:

As a Business Support Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution to people across Westminster. Joining us in our Mental Health in social care service, you’ll provide support to the Senior Management and Service Development teams, managing their diaries, organising meetings and acting as the primary point of contact between the teams.
You’ll be organised and meticulous in your approach, avoiding clashes, providing clarity on timings and logging appointments with clear joining instructions.

Part of your day-to-day will also include assisting in the monitoring of all care assessments and care managed cases. Through supporting care staff, and using IT systems, you’ll work to enhance service development, and ensure the service is meeting its targets. Be that through delivering accurate and timely performance reports, tracking progress on cases, or maintaining Issues and Risk logs.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

A proactive communicator with excellent organisational skills, you’ll have some experience of administrative work. Diligent, methodical and self-motivated, you’ll be a true team player, capable of effective collaboration with carers, service users, and colleagues at all levels of the organisation and beyond.

Your verbal and written communication skills will be clear and effective, and you’ll be willing to undertake training and work flexibly where necessary. More than anything, you’ll put the needs of service users first at all times, treating them with respect and dignity, and adopting a culturally sensitive approach.

This role offers reward like no other, and the chance to improve outcomes for people experiencing mental health problems in Westminster. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team, and to kickstart your career in the process.
