Bury Council is seeking a full-time Business Support Officer for its Safeguarding Unit. The role involves providing vital administrative support, including minute-taking for Child Protection conferences and managing schedules. Ideal candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with families and various professionals to ensure child safety and well-being.
Business Support (Safeguarding Unit)
We are looking for a full-time Business Support Officer to join our Safeguarding Unit, providing essential administrative support to the front-line teams based at 6 Knowsley Place, Bury.
The Safeguarding Unit focuses on child safety and well-being by protecting those children and young people identified to be at risk of suffering harm by bringing together all professionals working with a family in one team including children’s social workers, health and education professionals and the police to ensure the best outcomes for vulnerable children.
The core function of this role is to provide high quality and accurate minutes of our Child Protection conferences - meetings with the children, young people and their families and the multi-agency team of professionals working with them.

About you
You will need a good working knowledge of Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). You should be self-motivated and have excellent organisational skills alongside the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise and forward plan. You will be adaptable and flexible, have transferable skills and a willingness to learn new systems and new ways of doing things.
You will work as part of a busy team so must possess good interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to work on your own initiative, keep calm under pressure and be able to work to tight deadlines. You should have a methodical and concise approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
We are looking for team players with enthusiasm and a ‘can do, will do’ attitude to continually provide and improve the service to our families.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
