An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support officer to join our Youth Justice team at Hampshire County Council.

The Role:

The Hampshire Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary team which works with children aged 10 -18 years old who are at risk of offending or re-offending and subject to a range of community and custodial interventions.

Within the service there are a wide range of professionals including specialist practitioners in mental health, Police, Probation, Restorative Justice, Parenting and Education, Training and Employment. This combined multi- disciplinary team allows Hampshire Youth Justice Service to function at the highest level.

What you’ll do:
  • To provide direct business support for Hampshire Youth Justice Service working closely with operational staff, managers, and customers in a highly sensitive environment.
  • Under supervision maintain, update and extract information from systems.
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of information relevant to the service.
  • Respond to, and resolve where appropriate, telephone, face to face, e-mail and postal enquiries.
What we’re looking for:
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in providing business support within a public sector, youth justice, or social care setting (desirable).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and document preparation.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and supporting operational needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and the importance of accurate documentation in youth justice work.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems, processes, and legislative requirements.
