Bury Council is seeking a part-time Business Support Officer to join the Family Safeguarding teams. This role involves providing crucial admin support, managing team communications, and assisting in the facilitation of meetings. The position is hybrid, offering flexibility in work location with a salary range of £25,584 - £27,269 (full-time equivalent) and includes 25 days annual leave pro rata. Family Safeguarding is a strengths-based, whole-family approach to child protection. It brings together all professionals working with a family in one team including children’s social workers, mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse specialists.
We are looking for a part-time Business Support Officer to join our Family Safeguarding teams, providing admin support to the front-line teams based at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury. Each Business Support Officer (BSO) is responsible for their own Family Safeguarding team, however officers should know each other’s work so as to support and assist team members as needed.
This is a part-time role working working 3 days per week (although some flexibility so we can consider a minimum of 2.5 days or up to a maximum of 3.5 days per week). These are hybrid roles so if working 3 days a week, you will be expected to spend 2 days in the office and 1 day at home. Salary is £25,584 - £27,269 (full time equivalent) and you will receive 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata) plus bank holidays. Please note this is a fixed term role until the end of March 2026.

You will need a good working knowledge of Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). You should be self-motivated and have excellent organisational skills alongside the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise and forward plan. You will be adaptable and flexible, have transferable skills and a willingness to learn new systems and new ways of doing things.
You will work as part of a busy team so must possess good interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to work on your own initiative, keep calm under pressure and be able to work to tight deadlines. You should have a methodical and concise approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
We are looking for team players with enthusiasm and a ‘can do, will do’ attitude to continually provide and improve the service to our families.
