Business Support Officer (12 months maternity cover) – Grade 3

Hours 37 (full time)

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity within the Environmental Health team for a Business Support Officer to cover a period of maternity leave.

Duties

The successful applicant will be providing essential support to a busy and dynamic team who carry out a wide range of statutory duties across the following areas:

  • Food Safety
  • Environmental Permitting
  • Planning and Licensing Consultations
  • Health and Safety
  • Statutory Nuisance Investigations
  • Animal Activity Licensing
  • Air Quality


This role is vital in helping frontline officers deliver key services that have a direct impact on the safety and wellbeing of the residents, workers, and visitors to the borough. You will be assisting with the day-to-day administrative tasks that support the team’s inspections, investigations, and regulatory work.

The role will include a handover and shadowing period with the current postholder, to ensure a smooth transition and give you a solid understanding of the work involved.

We believe this secondment offers a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the critical work carried out by the Environmental Health team and develop a deeper understanding of how the Council helps to protect public health.
