Overview: One of my local government clients is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Business Support Officer to join their Enforcement Team. This is a key administrative role within the Revenues department, supporting the effective and lawful recovery of public funds through efficient back-office operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional day-to-day administrative support to the Enforcement Agents
  • Act as the first point of contact for enforcement-related queries (phone, email, post)
  • Handle and process payments, maintain receipts, update accounts and records
  • Liaise with internal departments, contractors, and external agencies
  • Maintain data quality, meet audit standards, and ensure compliance with GDPR
  • Track enforcement activity, issue communications, and escalate complaints when necessary
  • Support fair and consistent service delivery aligned with Council policies
Person Specification:
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Proven experience in a revenues enforcement or debt recovery administrative role
  • Working knowledge of Taking Control of Goods regulations, Business Rates, Council Tax, and other enforcement mechanisms
  • Experience dealing with challenging customers and working under pressure
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information effectively
