Job description

Reports to: Operations Manager

Contract: Fixed term, March 2026, potential renewal subject to 6 month probation period

Salary: £25106.20/Pro rata

Hours: 22.5 hours, hours can be delivered flexibly over 3-5 days as preferred. Occasional additional hours may be required outside of office hours and weekends to meet the needs.

Gloucestershire Nightstop provides emergency accommodation and support for young people, who are homeless or risk of homeless and aged between 16-25, across the county of Gloucestershire, on a night-by-night basis, in the homes of trained and vetted volunteers. Our vision: To see the end of youth homelessness in Gloucestershire and work towards a future whereby all young people may live fulfilled and independent lives. Our mission: To champion young people, between 16-25 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and to provide safe, supportive, and stable accommodation and early intervention to prevent homelessness.

Why we need you

The Business Support & Communications Officer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the organisation’s day-to-day operations across specific activities. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive support to various activities including facilitating effective marketing and social media communication, leading on allocated events as related to strategic funding, as well as governance and operational support.

Duties and responsibilities

Communications

• Design and create social media content and captions, posting regularly to a range of social media platforms. Content to include branded images, videos and sharing of partners and relevant article and posts.

• Adhere to digital policies and procedures

• Co-ordinate with the Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Officer and the Operations Manager to create targeted ads and promotion of events, alongside volunteer recruitment strategies.

• Work with the Delivery team to promote achievements of young people who access the service

• Monitor the impact of posts to learn and improve online engagement

• Create written and physical marketing materials with relevant departments where needed

• Work to deliver the communication delivery plan and give input into reviews of delivery plans.

• Attendance at outreach events periodically throughout the year promoting the service and recruiting volunteers.

Funding/Strategic Events Planning

Manage the events page on the website

• Assist and co-ordinate the delivery of events as agreed

• Organise events that align with our vision, mission and strategy as agreed

• Support the planning and execution of various projects ensuring the smooth deadlines are met

• Co-ordinate with different external stakeholders and internal departments to ensure the timely completion of tasks

• Carry out fundraising research and admin as agreed with the Executive Director

Governance

Maintaining, organising and ensuring the filing of important documents, such as annual reports and compliance records

• Registering new trustees and support their recruitment and onboarding

• Co-ordinating policy management with the board to ensure compliance

• Organising and co-ordinating board meetings, including preparing agendas, distributing meeting materials and taking minutes as required

Admin Support

Respond to enquiries/donations from clients', customers and stakeholders in a professional manner

• Resolve any issues or concerns that may arise

• Assist financial documentation as required

Other Duties

Perform additional tasks as required by the leadership and governance team

• Providing transport to young people accessing the service by driving young people from our offices to their host placement and ensuring they are settled in before leaving.
