Business Strategy Lead, Books, Japan Books Team

We believe reading is essential for a healthy society and our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get the most out of reading. We are seeking an innovative, customer-centric, results driven Senior Partnerships Manager to join us on our mission to make all books in all formats available to all readers in Japan.

The ideal candidate for this role will share our vision for reading, have a passion for building strong stakeholder relationships and a growth mindset enabling them to challenge the status quo. This is an exciting role partnering with various teams across our organization (Manga, Marketing, Advertising, Supply Chain) to develop innovative programs and solutions to delight customers and bring our publisher partners closer to our readers. Candidates must be able to work with sensitive content, including culturally sensitive and adult content.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Take the lead on identifying the biggest strategic opportunities for Amazon and publishers to delight readers in Japan and drive growth.
  2. Work across various teams at Amazon to build frameworks, business models and pitch materials to secure sustainable strategic engagement with publishers.
  3. Implement mechanisms to routinely capture and share key trends in the Japan Publishing industry to inform current and future strategy.
  4. Work closely with the vendor management team to understand publisher priorities and opportunities.
  5. Present recommendations to cross functional leaders leveraging working backwards frameworks.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience.
  • 7+ years of professional or military experience.
  • Business level English.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to influence global stakeholders inside and outside of Amazon Japan.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fluency in Japanese.
  • Experience in working in the Japan publishing industry.
