Job summary

striveX Ltd is recruiting a trainee/apprentice accountant for our Business Services function. The role focuses on preparing client work, VAT, bookkeeping, and returns using Xero and QBOL, with supervision.

You will gain hands-on experience, work with a manager, and develop client communication skills across a portfolio. Hybrid pattern, 1 day in office, with support to progress towards ACCA/ACA.

Qualifications

The commercial side of the business, helping clients with monthly and quarterly tasks and their financial strategy.

£29,600–£37,000 | Hybrid (1 day in office)

We’re hiring a trainee/apprentice accountant for our Business Services function.

This role is ideal for someone who has a minimum of three years experience and is looking for more client contact.

You will have support from your peers, an Assistant Manager and Senior Manager.

Services provided by the team

• VAT returns
• Payroll and pension
• CIS returns
• Basic CoSec form filings

The opportunity

You will prepare client work and file returns for your manager’s review. You will contact clients directly with supervision and support from your manager. This role is best suited for someone that is looking for the next step in their training career, whilst retaining the support of a manager.

You will be responsible for:

• Preparing accounts and returns through Xero and QBOL
• Ensuring the internal deadlines and tasks are met for your portfolio
• Liaising with a portfolio of clients

This is a semi-senior role for a person who is looking to develop their client communication skills.

What we are looking for

• 3-5 years practice experience
• Confident drafting VAT returns and general bookkeeping
• For more senior roles we would expect experience with management accounts
• Ability to manage workflow, prioritisation and capacity
• Bring positive values to the team

You will not be suitable if:

• You have not yet had any client contact
• You have no practice experience (i.e. industry, public or charity)
• You do not intend to study ACCA / ACA
• You are not looking for a full time role
• You would be continuing another finance role alongside this position

We are looking for someone who can develop through their exams and progress into managing their own portfolio.

£29,600–£37,000 depending on experience and exams passed. Giving you the clear progression as you continue through your exams.
