Job description

Morgan Hunt's client is looking for a homeworking Business Rates Officer to join their team.

In order to be immediately effective in this position the ideal candidate will have previous experience with:

  • Administering the Billing, Collection and Recovery of Business Rates
  • Opening, closing and amending business rates accounts
  • Processing payments and setting up payment plans and attachment orders
  • Applying discounts, reliefs and exemptions
  • Liaising with external companies such as Bailiffs with regards to direct payments, progress on cases and account amendments.
  • Preparing documents for Magistrate court and assist court officers throughout committal process as well as providing advice to tax payers.
  • Preparing case documents for the Valuation Tribunal
  • Reconciling property valuation bands with the Valuation Officer and ensure the database remains up to date.
  • Tracing absconded Business Rates Payments
  • Issuing reminders, final notices and summonses
  • Dealing with enquiries by telephone, face to face and written correspondence on all queries related to NNDR.
  • Reviewing all NNDR applications for exemptions and ensure they have been processed and verified correctly
