Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference to public transport and community mobility? The Westmorland and Furness Local Authority Public Transport Team is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join us in delivering vital transport services across the region.

Our team manages a diverse range of services including supported bus services, community transport initiatives, community rail partnerships, the English National Concessionary Travel scheme, and innovative transport projects. Together, we work to ensure accessible, reliable, and sustainable transport options for all residents.

This is a key role within the Public Transport Team, supporting the delivery of essential services across Westmorland and Furness. From Supported Bus Services and Community Transport to innovative projects like the Rural Mobility pilot, the Service ensures our communities have access to safe, sustainable, and reliable transport.

As a Business Partner, you will work with the Public Transport Manager to develop and deliver projects and strategies that improve local transport. The role includes guiding a small team, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards, and using data to influence service improvements. You will also collaborate with stakeholders and service providers to address operational issues, oversee contracts and performance, and prepare reports and recommendations to support decision-making.

We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of public transport operations and compliance, alongside experience managing small teams and working with partners. You will be confident using and interpreting data to drive improvements in services and timetables, and skilled in budget monitoring and reporting.

Clear communication, leadership, and relationship-building are essential, enabling you to engage effectively with colleagues, partners, senior leaders, and elected members. You will be organised, resilient under pressure, and committed to excellent customer service and equal opportunities.

If you have a degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality transport solutions, we would love to hear from you.
