Job description

BUK Business Oversight Compliance (BOC) provides oversight, advice and guidance to Barclays UK. The role is within the BUK BOC team that specifically oversees BUK Life Moments (Consumer Mortgages, Savings and Insurance Distribution). The team is responsible for a range of activity including compliance challenge and advice across new and existing Products, Propositions, Journeys and strategic change; risk events and issues; identifying themes or trends that pose a risk to good customer outcomes; and supporting the interpretation of regulatory requirements and regulatory change.

To be successful as a Business Oversight Compliance specialist, you should have:

  • A strong risk and control mindset particularly relating to identifying and managing Compliance, Conduct and Reputational risk in a Retail Banking and Financial Services.
  • Capable of considering complex problems, taking into account regulations, regulatory guidance, the Barclays ERMF and conduct risk considerations and making risk based decisions.
  • Strong personal and communication skills to communicate complex scenarios simply, clearly and briefly, effectively influence business strategy and participate in challenging conversations.

In addition, proven experience or knowledge of Mortgage, Savings and/or Insurance products would be advantageous.

This is 1 of 2 roles which can be located in London, Glasgow or Northampton.

Purpose of the role

To provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on business and compliance matters to evidence that the organisation is operating in compliance with Barclays legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities.

Accountabilities

  • Identification and assessment of compliance risks through thorough reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems.
  • Identification and investigation of potential market abuse, including but not limited to, Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation or Anti-Competitive Conduct.
  • Conduct investigation of compliance risk events or breaches. Oversight and check and challenge of corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Implementation of compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and ensuring that the bank’s internal policies are aligned with international standards, including jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaboration with 1LOD, other relevant Compliance teams and legal, and relevant risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management.
  • Identification, investigation and oversight of potential money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime.
