Are you a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with a passion for optimizing complex operational processes? Due to exciting business growth, we are seeking a Business Operations Analyst to join a leading City based Trading House. You will join a pivotal Soft Commodities team responsible for the operations and development of key commodity contracts, including with Cocoa, Coffee, Sugar, and Wheat. This role offers a unique opportunity to be deeply involved in all facets of operational efficiency and product evolution, contributing to the integrity and growth of critical market functions.

OPPORTUNITY FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL!

Duties of the Commodity Operations Analyst to include:

  • Operational Contribution & Development: Play a key role in enhancing and developing the operational aspects of London's soft commodity contracts.
  • System Management & Improvement:
    • Oversee proprietary systems for inventory, warehousekeeper, and delivery management.
    • Manage administrative tasks related to system maintenance and development.
    • Contribute to the development of system enhancements for new contracts, including testing and sign-off.
    • Lead incident reporting and resolution for operational systems.
    • Drive system training initiatives for new users and product releases.
    • Conduct biannual reviews of system users.
  • Physical Delivery Process Analysis: Support and optimize the physical delivery process, collaborating with various internal functions to ensure orderly and efficient deliveries.
  • Client Engagement & Issue Resolution: Handle client inquiries, identify recurring issues, and build strong relationships by providing effective solutions and support.
  • Operational Communications: Draft clear and concise written communications for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Operational Assessments: Participate in visits, inspections, and audits of warehousekeepers as required to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Project Leadership: Undertake and contribute to various project work, driving operational improvements and new initiatives.

Requirements for the successful Commodity Operations Analyst to include:

  • Proven experience with clearing operations for physically deliverable futures contracts.
  • Familiarity with Exchange clearing systems.
  • Experience in soft commodities (Cocoa, Coffee, Sugar, or Grains) highly advantageous.
  • Educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline or possess equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Please note, the role will involve travel (12/13 times a year), and some work outside of normal business hours.
