Job Summary
The Business Manager - HR & OD will support daily operations in HR, Organisational Development, resource planning, performance reporting, and SLAs. They will contribute to service development activities and projects, representing the service at internal and external meetings, and establishing relationships with stakeholders across the NHS community and beyond.
The post holder will manage specific projects/work areas, lead central functions within the service, and support operational managers by facilitating and monitoring HR and OD work streams across multiple sites. They will also support service development and improvement initiatives, collaborating with colleagues across MIAA and the Trust, aligning with the NHS People plan pillars.
Main Duties
- Create and maintain databases for effective service operations
- Assist senior managers with strategic HR and activity planning, resolving complex queries through data analysis
- Develop and implement processes and procedures for relevant service areas
- Ensure delivery against performance standards and targets
- Engage with external organizations such as NHS England, LUHFT, and client organizations
- Lead HR and OD transformation projects aligned with business and operational plans
- Manage junior managers and oversee administrative teams
- Manage budgets, including skill mix reviews and resource allocation
- Support HR and OD projects at divisional and Trust levels

Qualifications
- Essential: Post Graduate Qualification in relevant subject/equivalent
- Desirable: Masters in Project Management, Prince 2, MBA
Experience
- Essential: Significant managerial experience, budget management, working with senior managers, report writing, business case development, understanding of performance management and contracts/SLAs
- Desirable: Project management, service improvement, Quality Management Systems
Knowledge
- Essential: NHS systems and structures, information governance, healthcare business management, finance, procurement, HR
