Job description

Business Manager | Chief of Staff

£50,000 + Significant Growth Opportunity | UK-Based | Equipment Sales & Rental Sector

We’re partnering with a dynamic, PE backed company who following further investment are currently on a high-growth trajectory with ambitions to more than double in size over the next three years.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal Business Manager role, working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to ensure the MD is delivering their goals and objectives. You will act as an advisor and right hand, through driving alignment across the departments, streamlining process, and ensuring leadership priorities are executed.

You'll blend executive support with business operations, internal coordination, and project management, taking on a wide remit that spans across departments and initiatives.

You’ll be the MD’s right hand, acting as a trusted confidant, gatekeeper, and problem-solver, while also playing a central role in business planning, internal communications, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business & Operational Support:
  • Act as a strategic partner to the MD and senior leadership team, helping drive accountability, focus, and alignment across the business.
  • Executive Support & Diary Management:
  • Manage complex calendars, meetings, and travel logistics across the UK and Europe. Anticipate needs, protect time, and ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Leadership Coordination:
  • Prepare materials for board and leadership meetings, coordinate agendas, track action items, and ensure timely follow-ups.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal teams and external partners; ensure effective communication and engagement across all levels.
  • Project Oversight:
  • Support the delivery of key strategic and operational initiatives. Track progress, identify blockers, and drive accountability.
  • Internal Communications:
  • Draft high-quality reports, presentations, and internal updates. Help shape and reinforce company-wide messaging and culture.
  • Inbox & Workflow Management:
  • Help manage priorities, communications, and requests flowing to the MD, ensuring critical matters are addressed promptly.
  • Process & Efficiency Improvements:
  • Identify friction points and implement streamlined systems, enabling the leadership team to operate at maximum efficiency.

About You

  • You have experience supporting senior leaders in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, ideally blending EA duties with business operations or Chief of Staff-style work.
  • You’re a natural organiser with exceptional time management skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • You operate with discretion, sound judgement, and attention to detail, especially when dealing with sensitive information.
  • You’re a strong communicator who can influence and build relationships across all levels.
  • You bring a strategic mindset and thrive when working proactively, not just reactively.
  • You're tech-savvy and confident with MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • You’re excited by the opportunity to grow with the business and take on more responsibility over time.
  • PRINCE2 or similar project management experience is highly desirable.
  • Available to work on-site and be flexible when needed.

What’s on Offer

  • A key role in a business that’s scaling rapidly
  • Broad exposure to strategy, operations, and decision-making
  • Salary circa £50,000
  • Supportive, ambitious team culture
  • Long-term development opportunity
