Job summary

Reed in Partnership is seeking a Business Manager to lead a Progressive Coaches team and drive performance across the North East. The role combines people management, stakeholder engagement, and proactive strategy execution to maximise employment outcomes.

You will oversee daily operations, support staff development, and work with partners to convert opportunities into lasting employment, while upholding the organisation’s values and commitments.

Qualifications

  • Experience in direct line management of a team.
  • Track record of achieving targets personally and managing team targets.
  • Experience in sales, customer service or recruitment.
  • Strong administration and IT skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the patch.

Responsibilities

  • Taking Ownership: Implement strategies aimed at upskilling local community members and overcoming barriers to employment.
  • Monitor and manage office and individual performance against KPIs.
  • Working Together: Managing, motivating, and directing staff to meet performance targets and KPIs.
  • Overseeing staff development, including performance management, identifying skills gaps, and coaching/mentoring.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise referrals and employment opportunities.
  • Being Fair, Open, and Honest: Managing Profit and Loss reports and monthly financial forecasting.

What is the role about?The Business Manager is responsible for leading and motivating a team of Progression Coaches to support caseloads of unemployed job seekers with intensive personal support, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to performance targets. OR achievement of a Level 2 in Literacy Assessment at interview stagePersonal circumstances include willingness to travel within the patch (e.g. to meet Progression Coaches/participants/Employers)Willingness to work flexibly and ability to travel across a large regionDesirable Criteria:Interest in people and willingness to learn.Knowledge of welfare/benefits system.Degree or relevant qualification. Degree topics may include; psychology, sociology, social care/science.
