Job summary

Veolia UK is seeking a Business Manager for Commercial Waste to oversee depot operations, financial management and strategic planning. You will lead a team, drive performance, and ensure safe, efficient services within budget while promoting Veolia values.

The role requires commercial waste experience, budget know-how, and leadership capabilities, with opportunities for development and a company car or allowance.

Qualifications

• Previous commercial waste management experience.
• Level 3 Leadership & Management or equivalent work experience.
• IOSH/NEBOSH desirable.
• Financial and budget management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee depot operations including financial management, business development, strategic planning and team management.
• Deliver effective & safe services to maximum operational efficiency within budget and to Veolia standards.
• Lead and mentor a team, promote development and Veolia values.
• Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
• Monitor operations to identify improvements and implement best practices.
• Drive customer centricity and maximize customer service and operations KPIs.
• Develop and manage site budget and allocate resources efficiently.
• Provide clear, transparent reporting of business performance.
• Deliver operational efficiencies through digital tools, asset utilization and cost control.
• Understand local market conditions, competitors and growth opportunities.
• Nominated Transport Manager 2 with fleet management responsibility.

Business Manager - Commercial Waste

Salary: Competitive plus bonus, company car/cash allowance, private medical cover and pension

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week

Location: Derby

What you'll be doing;

• Be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the depot operations, including financial management, business development, strategic planning, and team management.
• Deliver effective & safe services to maximum operational efficiency, within budget & to VMR standard.
• Lead and mentor a team of employees, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development and our Veolia values.
• Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide feedback to ensure the team's success.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate operational performance to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
• Drive a culture of Customer Centricity, ensuring all Customer Service and Operational KPIs are maximised.
• Develop and manage the site budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources & utilisation of the most efficient disposal and recycling solutions.
• Providing clear, transparent & accurate reporting of business performance.
• Delivering operational efficiencies through use of digital media, asset utilisation and cost control.
• Understanding local market conditions, competitors & opportunities for growth.
• Nominated Transport Manager 2 with overall responsibility for Fleet management & delivering best in class transport compliance.
• Foster relationships with key stakeholders, industry partners, and regulatory agencies to enhance business operations and market presence.
• Monitor the competitive landscape and develop strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
• Effectively deliver and promote succinct business related messages and strategies to future customers.

What we're looking for;

Essential:

• IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH is desirable.
• Previous commercial waste management experience.
• Level 3 Leadership & Management or equivalent work experience.
• Transport CPC.
• Financial and budget management experience.
• Strong understanding of waste management regulations, environmental sustainability, and waste disposal procedures is desirable.
