Job Description:

The Role

The APS 6 Business Management Officer coordinates and manages the JORN Sustainment Office (SO) compliance, governance, financial and performance reporting. This position supports the implementation and delivery of JORN sustainment projects, and is an integral part of HFSSPO. You will be accountable for cost management processes, ensuring a clear and consistent approach that aligns with management and financial accounting activities.

The Business Management Officer will work with the Director SO, taking the initiative for setting and completing work tasks that align with the strategic objectives and business outcomes of the SO while working closely with the team to ensure the successful delivery of outcomes.

  • Perform complex procedural, operational, administrative, and business management activities supporting JORN Sustainment outcomes.
  • Conduct cost investigation and assurance activities to ensure invoice claims are accurate and compliant with contracts, legislation, financial regulations, and policies.
  • Undertake financial modelling and what-if analysis to inform sustainment projects of expected financial outcomes, risks, and issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, briefs, and other communication materials for management.
  • Analyze financial aspects of procurement submissions and quotes to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Defence policy.
  • Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex issues to influence and achieve business outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to the team and work area.

The High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO) offers a dynamic environment with opportunities in world-leading capabilities and emerging technologies. HFSSPO acquires, sustains, and exports High Frequency radar capabilities for the Australian Defence Force, including the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar.
