GSK invites applications for a 1-year Industrial Placement at the Barnard Castle site. The programme targets undergraduates 2+ years into their degree, enrolled at a UK or ROI university, with a focus on politics, English, marketing or similar.

Start is July 2027, duration 12 months, on-site, with a salary of £26,400 plus bonus. Applicants must be fluent in English, and the placement requires full-time on-site work with learning across Operations, Lab, Engineering and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI ( Republic of Ireland ) University for the duration of your placement.

The Role

Overview of the Department

Barnard Castle is a key secondary site for GSK with a large number of New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatological.

Key Placement Learnings

• Work as a member of the continuous improvement team (known as the GPS - GSK Production System team) who use industry standard LEAN / 6-Sigma methodologies to fix problems and make improvements throughout the business.
• Every department on the site is a potential customer, but our key relationships are with our Operations, Laboratory, Engineering and Supply Chain colleagues .
• Support day to day operations and communications in a key manufacturing site
• Working in a safe and compliant manner.
• Exposure to this high volume and fast paced environment will build a great understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and business improvement to secure and sustain the site strategy for the future.
