A prominent healthcare provider in Lowestoft is seeking a Business Intelligence Specialist to develop dashboards and manage data analysis for operational needs. This full-time role requires skilled data extraction and communication with stakeholders, contributing to the organization's service improvement goals. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications in data management and experience in BI tools.
We're expanding our BI team to support an exciting project portfolio aimed at delivering on the NHS 10 year plan, Digital First agenda and continuous service improvement.
The post-holder will be responsible for collation, analysis and presentation of focused information to support the organisations contractual requirements, projects and operational needs.
The post holder will work closely with business intelligence colleagues, the business change team, Digital Health Team, service managers, Executive members, clinicians and commissioning groups.
Scope, design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards in conjunction with service leads and dashboard users.
Automate KPI extraction and make KPIs visible to services wherever possible.
Compile reports to a high standard, following documentation and creating clear guidance as to what data is being reported.
Complete contractual reporting tasks (running of reports, coordinating commentary and responses) to strict commissioning deadlines.
Produce thorough documentation for all work completed be it in the form of formal documentation or well-commented code.
Develop, monitor and support the data warehouse. Investigate data warehouse discrepancies and act upon incorrect data integration into the data warehouse, supporting the Business Intelligence Team Leader in amending processes and ETL routines where appropriate.

The post-holder willhave access to a large amount of patient identifiable information. It is arequirement of the post-holder that they treat all of this information inaccordance with the Information Governance policy of the organisation.
The post-holder willhave the skills and experience to develop analysis to support operationalperformance management and inform decision making for the organisations mediumand long term planning process and strategy development.
The post-holder will beexpected to work with the services and contracts leads in order to deliver oncontractual reporting requirements.
The post holder willwork closely with business intelligence colleagues, the business change team,system configuration team, service managers, Executive members, clinicians andcommissioning groups.
The post-holder will beexpected to keep expenses for travel within an agreed individual cap. With thehelp of the Business Intelligence Team Leader, write business cases for anytraining required for professional development/travel that would exceed thiscap.
In particular, thepost-holder will be expected to:
o Scope, design, develop andmaintain interactive dashboards in conjunction with service leads and dashboardusers.
o Automate KPI extraction andmake KPIs visible to services wherever possible.
o Take responsibility fordesigning, completing and documenting new reports.
o Complete contractualreporting tasks (running of reports, coordinating commentary and responses) tostrict commissioning deadlines.
o Produce thoroughdocumentation for all work completed be it in the form of formaldocumentation or well-commented code.
o Keep issue management &work planning system up to date, creating issues when work is requested andflagging its urgency during sprint planning. Fully engage with the agilemanagement methodology that the team works in. Keep commentary on issues clearand contemporaneous such that tasks can be picked up, understood and adopted byother team members where necessary.
o Manage their time to delivera variety of tasks within agreed timescales.
o Promote the use of businessintelligence across the organization through presentations, demos, and/orinformal advocacy.
o Utilize the data warehousefor standard queries, find and support the resolution of issues with dataentering the data warehouse where there appear to be discrepancies with what isrecorded in the front end of the system.
o Compile reports to a highstandard, following documentation and creating clear guidance as to what datais being reported.
o Create newreports/dashboards when required due to contract changes oroperational/strategic priorities.
o Identify new opportunitiesacross the organization for enhancing BI.
o Liaise with the systemconfiguration team to understand where data is recorded through the front endof the system and translate this into locating that data in the data warehouse.
o Advise on and test thereporting capability of new configurations of systems.
o Provide specialist BI adviceto other members of staff, managers and directors. Guide other staff members inrecognizing, realizing and honing their BI requirements and translate these intodeliverable products.
o Respond positively tochallenges in the way that data is collected and reported. Work with serviceleads and contracts to improve understanding of measures and the quality ofdata.
o Provide advice and guidanceto the contracts team, commissioners and service leads on development of KPIsand reporting on contract performance. Be responsive to contractual changes andmake changes to reporting as required as a result of these.
o Be the BI representative andlead on the project team for discrete projects, as requested by the BusinessIntelligence Team Leader
o Review data collected toidentify any inconsistencies and assist the service in validating potentialerrors / anomalies to ensure information reported is both complete andaccurate.
o Ensure that data provisionis both timely and accurate and that all internal and external reportingdeadlines are met.
o To obtain authorization forthe external submission of reports from the named Senior Manager(s), asappropriate. Ensure that external reports are ready for review by seniormanagement within the agreed timescales.
o Support all elements of theBI strategy & organizational strategy.
o Engage with the BusinessIntelligence Team Leader in making appropriate contributions to the BI Strategyand other departmental documents.
o Develop, monitor and supportthe data warehouse. Investigate data warehouse discrepancies and act uponincorrect data integration into the data warehouse, supporting the BusinessIntelligence Team Leader in amending processes and ETL routines whereappropriate.
o Investigate nationalmandatory submissions, including designing, documenting and embedding processesfor making the submissions and liaising with the relevant services.
o Represent ECCH incommunications with national bodies to organize mandatory submissions.
o Coordinate the configurationand IT teams in providing the necessary technical
o requirements to make mandatorysubmissions possible.
o Deputize for the BusinessIntelligence Team Leader when required (may include but not limited to corecommissioner meetings, induction presentations, presenting BI to the widerbusiness and/or external organizations.)
o Work with external expertsand contractors at the request of the Business Intelligence Team Leader (e.g.contractors, commissioners or any other external organisations).
The role does not involve the development and configuration ofSystmOne. The postholder is however expected to have/develop backgroundknowledge of SystmOne, or other clinical system adopted by ECCH, to enhancetheir ability to work with the configuration team/services in order to stateclear BI requirements for configuration.
